Week 0 - Day 4

Goddag!

I crashed in Herlev again last night, and when we left this afternoon, we had to dig out the car, because this is the result of one night of MILD snowfall:

After some shopping, I finally got round to taking pictures of my room here in Stenlose. I also met the other student who is sleeping here, Hannes, who is also from Belgium.

The lovely people we are staying with are cooking dinner for us tonight, so that will probably be really good.

Anyway, pictures!

Week 0 - Day 3

Hej! (No that's not the Dutch 12 year old girl way of saying hello, it's Danish!)

New pictures up on Picasa

Day three was pretty sweet, moved my stuff over to Stenlose, then went back to Herlev to get ready to head into Kobenhavn.

(we = Benjamin, Lotte & Myself)

On the way to Stenlose, I saw something that proved just how cheerful the Danes are:

A Christmas tree on a crane

Childish humour at its best :D

I also saw something quite inventive: A bottle that opens from the bottom as well as the top (I saw this on "Day 2" but I forgot to post it):

Anyway, off to dinner we went. We took the train, and I got my first look at Copenhagen's central station, which is a really old building:

We ate at Jensens Bøfhus (Which I can now recommend!) - I had a massive coke (my phone is next to it to clarify just how big it is)

And some ribs

So we arrived at the cinema, we went to "Palads" which looks awesome too:

And we saw Avatar in 3D, which requires funny glasses:

Avatar is an incredible movie by the way, especially in 3D. Amazing graphics, and I wasn't bored at all, even though it's a very long movie. Okay, the story isn't amazing, and sometimes the acting is pretty .... meh, but you haven't seen Sigourney Weaver until you've seen her in blue.

Giant smurfs verus Mecha-wielding humans on a jungle planet, yeah, but in amazing 3D :P

On the way back we passed by the wheel of Copenhagen:

As well as Boomtown (which is a gamer "thing" :P)

And lastly, we had some drinks in a bar called "Bryggeriet" where they brew their own beer. I had a pint of some "german-style beer with slight honey flavouring" - Pretty good!

Week 0 - Day 2

About to go shopping for a Danish SIM card, some food, a train card, etc. so I'll make this quick.

Woah. I knew Stenlose (I can't do the funny o yet) was pretty far from Kobenhavn, but it's REALLY far haha.

I've had a look at traintickets, and which would be the cheapest solution. 20 return trips into Kobenhavn would cost me 1500 Kroner with a klippekort. A one month periodekort would cost 980 Kroner. Decision made.

To give you an idea of how much that is, my rent is 2000 Kroner (~€268)

If I get a periodekort I can go wherever I want within the 7 zones, whenever and how many times I want. Purrrrrrfect.

Anyway, after a pretty sleepless last night in Belgium I slept like a log last night, and after a shower, I looked semi-presentable again:

Update: Just got in, got a SIM-card (and number), my train card, and some basic shopping.

My danish number is 60662062 should anyone need it!

Week 0 - Day One

Let me start off by saying this won't be a daily blog, but I like naming it like this ;)

I was pretty nervous so I didn't get much sleep, so by 6.30 I was ready to go to the airport. Traffic was pretty bad, but I arrived well on time. I arrived on Danish soil at 12.00 sharp, and the sight from the plane was amazing. A country covered in snow :)
My camera was in my luggage so I couldn't take a picture though.

Copenhagen airport is pretty amazing, although so is the Brussels one.

I have only flown twice before, but the landing was amazingly smooth.

Alqy & Ben were waiting for me at the airport, and as I'll by staying with them until Saturday I got temporarily set up here. (We're also going to see Avatar in 3D on Saturday, woohoo!)

My (new) laptop (which is running vista) can't handle what I want to use it for atm (bit of gaming) so I'm having massive fps drops in most games. I see this as a good thing though as less gaming means more focus on school ;)

Here are some pictures already...

Amazing hand dryers in Brussels airport.

Pretty frozen river

The view from the appartment I'm temporarily staying at.

(Can't say I'm not paying attention to ICT while I'm here, hehe)

See you soon, Copenhagen!

Even though I'm still in my exams, my departure for Danish soil is only eleven days away. My flight is booked, temporary lodging is taken care of (thanks Lotte & Benjamin! <3), deposits have been transfered, credit card application has been approved, ...

Denmark, HERE I COME!
